There's a world of volunteer possibilities out there!

The need for volunteers to assist non-profit organizations can sometimes feel like a never-ending search and often times those seeking volunteer opportunities aren’t sure how to go about contacting those organizations.  To help solve both sides of the volunteer equation, First Savings Bank, in conjunction with their Community Foundation, is sponsoring their third annual “Non-Profit Volunteer Fair” on Wednesday, April 28, 2010.  The event will be held at the Plumsteadville Fire House from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

“Non-profit groups and organizations are in need of volunteers to function and they deserve support from residents of the community.  In today’s economic climate, the number of volunteers needed in a wide cross-section of organizations is even greater,” noted Fred Schea, President of First Savings.  “We hope that this event will enable potential volunteers to learn more about the opportunities that are available from a variety of Non-Profit groups.  Last year, 30 non profit organizations participated in the Volunteer Fair and we invite and encourage the public to attend.”

The event also provides the opportunity for area high school students to meet with representatives of Volunteer/Non-Profit groups and learn about possible Community Service opportunities to coordinate with their High School Graduation Project.

The Plumsteadville Fire Company will have a light food concession available for purchase during the event. The Plumsteadville Fire House is located at 5064 Stump Road just off Easton Road (Route 611), Plumsteadville.  The Volunteer Fair is free to both the public and participating non-profit groups.  More information can be obtained by calling 215-257-5035.
